The cornerstone of this church was laid on 24 August 1842. It is an example of the typical village church in eighteenth-century England with a simple gable roof and a square bell tower. The stone chancel, making it cruciform, was added about 1877; the small church hall, designed by Douglas Ritchie, in 1949; the large church hall, designed by Francis J. Nobbs, in 1960.
