Whereas the basic discipline of the industrial society, based on energy, was physics; the basic discipline of our post-industrial society, based on information, is biology. Psychology followed in the footsteps of physics - the behaviouristic person will remain at rest or continue in a straight line with uniform motion unless acted upon by some external force. It must now shift to biology where it belongs. This requires a shift from a behaviouristic concept of the person to a humanistic concept of the person (see Figure 2).
